The Commode Cushion is designed for use on commode chairs and shower chairs.
It provides a soft cushion seat for thin, frail and bony patients.
There are breathing holes located under the tie straps. This allows the air to escape when patients sit down. Make sure the holes are underneath to prevent shower water entering the cushion.
When doing up the straps to the commode frame, make sure they are not tied to the removable arms. The Commode Cushion is made from sanitised material, to help prevent bacterial growth. Spray and wipe clean with disinfectant.
If you have a patient who slides forward when getting off the cushion, we recommend undoing the straps so the cushion slips with the patient. This will help prevent a shear force between the patient’s skin and the cushion. This is because the cushion can then slide with the patient.
The Shower Chair Back Cushion (sold separately) can be used with the Commode Cushion, to protect the patient from hard back rests, and can be folded over the chair arms for added protection.
